The Helmholtz Institute for One Health in Greifswald (HIOH) is looking for a
Veterinarian (f/m/d)
The Helmholtz Institute for One Health (HIOH) Greifswald is a site of the Helmholtz Centre for InfectionResearch (HZI). Here, the interrelationships between the health of humans, animals and their environment areresearched. Our goal is to better understand zoonotic diseases, antimicrobial resistance and the evolution ofpathogens and thus contribute to the prevention of pandemics. Founded in 2021, the institute with itsinternational and interdisciplinary research teams is a beacon for innovative One Health research in one of themost beautiful regions of Germany, directly on the Baltic Sea.
As Veterinarian (f/m/d) within the EU-funded project “ZooSursy” (https://rr-africa.woah.org/en/projects/zoo-sursy-project-enhancing-zoonotic-disease-surveillance-in-africa/ ) you will be part of the two research groups“Ecology and Emergence of Zoonotic Diseases” and “One Health Surveillance (OHS)”, and work closely withthe other scientific research departments of the HIOH Greifswald. The project aims at sustainable capacitybuilding, strengthening wildlife and livestock surveillance and pandemic preparedness for emerging and re-emerging zoonotic diseases in Africa.
Your tasks will include the responsible implementation of project activities with the aim of strengthening thesurveillance of disease outbreaks in cooperation with local partners (WWF-CAR, DSPA and LACEVET in theCentral African Republic (CAR) and CSRS and CHU Bouaké in Côte d’Ivoire (CIV)) . You will also be involvedin the communication of results to the population and stakeholders, as well as publication of scientific results.
Much of the work is done on site in Bayanga in the Central African Republic and Taï in Côte d’Ivoire.
