The position is assigned to the research project
„Randomization of Surrogates for the Quantification of Domain Uncertainty Propagation in Cardiovascular Models‟
as part of the Berlin Mathematics Research Center MATH+.
The purpose of this position is to conduct research in the field of model reduction and uncertainty quantification for biological flows.
The goal of the project is, in particular, the development of robust methods to quantify the propagation of domain uncertainties in cardiovascular simulations, especially with regard to the estimation of biomarkers for image-based diagnostics.
The project is a collaboration between WIAS (Research Group “Numerical Mathematics and Scientific Computing” – PIs Alfonso Caiazzo and Francesco Romor) and FU Berlin (PI Ana Djurdjevac).
We are looking for: a highly motivated researcher with at least 3 years of research experience in a field related to numerical fluid mechanics , scientific computing , or model-order reduction , who is willing to engage in innovative and interdisciplinary research questions. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to collaborate with application partners in clinical and preclinical research.
Strong expertise in at least one of the following areas is expected: numerical analysis, scientific computing, model reduction, uncertainty quantification, machine learning, fluid mechanics. Experience with scientific object-oriented programming languages (C++, Python, or Julia) is highly relevant. Knowledge of cardiovascular imaging is desirable but not required.
